Henley ……….41 Broadstreet ..17
BROADSTREET’S first visit to Dry Leas ended in defeat as Henley Hawks got back to winning ways with a comfortable bonus-point victory.
Henley scored the first try after just five minutes when a driving line out was finished by Tom Emery.
Two penalties from Henley’s George Jackson and one from Broadstreet’s Cliff Hodgson kept the scoreboard moving before the home side extended their lead just before the break.
Another driving maul was again finished by Emery to give the Hawks a 16-3 lead at half time.
Rob Bell and Dave Hyde set up the Hawks’ third try, Hyde eventually breaking a tackle and scampering 40m to score. Jackson converted.
The Hawks didn’t make the most of their advantage and will be disappointed that they weren’t more ruthless when it looked as though they could shut Broadstreet out.
The visitors then enjoyed their best spell of the match and spent most of the next 20 minutes in the Hawks half.
Ryan O’Neill and Andrew Murray crossed for Broadstreet’s two tries, Hodgson converting both.
Henley’s experience was too much for the visitors and two further penalties from Jackson, along with tries from skipper Jake Albon and Joe Butler ensured the home side stemmed their three-game losing streak.
