Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter

Baxter can’t hide his delight

director of rugby was delighted with his team's performance. He said: “It felt like the old Chiefs were back. We have talked about how to rekindle that and, although we are always looking for add ons, some days you just go back to your basics, work hard and get your confidence back.

“At Scotstown before Christmas, although played very well to beat us, we really didn't fire a shot and tonight we wanted to put that right. We focussed totally on a bonus point win. There was no way we were going to take shots at goal and the team delivered fantastically well.

The set piece laid the foundations, Sam Skinner ran a really good line out and, as an indicator, when Sam Simmonds is scoring tries we are generally playing well. We are moving towards where we want to be.”

Glasgow coach Danny Wilson said: “I didn't see that coming but we got what we deserved in the final half hour. We collapsed completely to concede 38 points, we got completely outplayed and we need to address that quickly. We are still in the tournament, and we need to bounce back.”
