LEICESTER head coach Geordan Murphy said his team lost their way in the second half.
“We were not very smart,” he explained in how Tigers let slip that 13-0 lead.
“It was a very physical game and there was a lot of blood on the changing room floor at the end.
“I can’t criticise the players for effort but we weren’t very smart. We turned over the ball too many times and were really loose with the ball.”
Murphy described Ulster’s crucial period of dominance in the second half as like being “punched in the face repeatedly”.
“There were some positives but on the whole it was disappointing. If you look at Ulster’s second try we had no one in the back field.
“There was some clever play from Billy Burns with that chip over the top but then we stopped and let them run under the posts.
“That’s just criminal. It’s frustrating. Overall that’s a hugely disappointing result.”
England fly-half George Ford was among those giving blood.
He had to have five stitches in a cut chin following a collision with his own flanker Brendon O’Connor in the first half.
