WASPS Dai Young admitted a “few honest words” had transformed his team at half-time when they were 21-7 down.
“I was really disappointed at that first-half performance,” admitted the directopr of rugby.
“We talked all week about keeping hold of the ball and trying to play at tempo. But we kept on really putting ourselves under pressure which gifted them points.
“There were a few honest words spoken at half-time.
“But the next 25 minutes was really good. We played at a tempo that other teams struggle to play against.”
Overall Young said he had mixed emotions at the draw which leaves both teams facing an uphill battle to qualify. Young had to defend the supporters in the Ricoh Stadium who choose at first to boo England head coach Eddie Jones.
Jones was later cheered when he appeared sat in the stands on the big screen.
He seemed unconcerned and Young felt the mix of boos and jeers was all a “bit tongue in cheek”.
Young added: “Whatever happens we are an England club and we need to back the England coach.”
