LEICESTER said they were determined to send Aaron Mauger into the sunset on a winning note.
And they delivered thanks to a dominant scrum – and two huge penalties in the last four minutes of a cracking match from their nerveless replacement fly-half, Owen Williams.
However, as Leicester moved back into play-offcontention, the squad should take a moment to reflect that if they had played with this sort of vim and vigour on a few more occasions, the Kiwi they paid tribute to in such glowing terms would still be at the club.
