IN the early kick-off at Greenfield, Alnwick came out on top 13-10 in a very close game at home to York.
The visitors enjoyed a 3-5 advantage at the interval courtesy of a try from George Davies following an early penalty for the home side by Evan Moir.
York went further ahead in the second period through a try from Ross White, but a try from James Birch converted by Moir levelled matters at 10- 10 before Moir sealed the win with a late penalty.
Possibly one of the earlier contenders for promotion, Billingham, laid a clear marker down with a nine-try 57-10 win at home...
