Impossible to split St Thomas’ and Epsom

THE Prep Schools saw a return to the format of each team playing their group games, but there were 11 group winners from the ten groups after an extraordinary tie in Group F.

St. Thomas’ Clapham and Epsom College headed into their final game on the same number of points (having won three games and drawn one), with an identical points difference and incredibly being tied on the third method of separation, points scored, with 115 points each.

Perhaps fittingly, they drew 25-25 in the final group game, and so nothing could separate the shared winners of Group F.

In the other groups, Hall Grove, Weatherby and Dean Close had the perfect send off from their Prep Schools with five out of five in Groups C, D and J respectively, while Brighton and Clifton Colleges managed the same achievement, boding well for future year groups as they progress to hopefully match the success of their senior teams, who both made it to day two.

Millfield will also be able to look to the future positively as their U13s took Group A unbeaten, tying only with drawspecialists Dulwich, who managed to draw three out of their five games, whilst Taunton School will feel the same after their younsters edged out St. John’s Northwood on points difference following the two sides’ draw in game two of Group I.

Cheltenham Prep held off a stern challenge from overseas visitors Dubai College to clinch Group G, whilst Felstead also had a stellar campaign as they did enough to win Group C after winning their first four matches.
