IN THE battle of the top two, came out the better beating Macclesfield 24-48.

Luke Cole, Ben McGee and Henry Roberts bagged two each with Joe Rowntree, Gavin Stead and Callum Irvine in for one apiece, Irvine also successful with a penalty.

For the home side, Alex Davies crossed for two and Simeon Meek one, all converted by Tom Morton, who also landed a penalty.

Billingham move up to second following a 39-5 win at home to Burnage. Alfie Lawson coasted in for a hat-trick followed by Dan Dixon, Anthony Jackson, Peter Youll and Martin Hopley, Peter Evans on hand with a conversion and a penalty.

Blackburn move into fourth, taking the honours 46-21 at home to Alnwick. Cory Logan, Scott Richardson, Sammy Russell, Jake Foster, Myles Harrop and Tom Birkinshaw were the home try scorers, with Josh Jarrold successful with five conversions and a penalty and Leon Fifield with one penalty. For Alnwick, James Bird, James Cuthbert were the try scorers both converted by Evan Moir. Alnwick also forced a penalty try.

Lymm were 46-10 victors over Wirral. Gregor Walker bagged a treble, with Sam Wadsworth, Tom Bray and Harry Jennings in for one each. Sam Redfern, who took kicking duties, slotted five conversions and two penalties.

Sandal hammered Northwich 71-18. Ryan Gibson, Luke Adams and James Ellar crossed two each, with Scott McGregor, Alex Hedley, James Stewart and Jamie Heron the other scorers. Greg Wood hit five conversions and Ellar three. Thomas Husband and Michael Gough were the visitors try scorers with Husband also landing two penalties and a conversion.
