Dan Jones sticking close to home with new Scarlets contract

Fly-half Dan Jones has signed a new contract with the to continue his career at his home region.

The extension allows the 23-year-old the opportunity to reach 500 points for the Scarlets, having amassed 423 in 83 appearances since graduating from the academy.

Making strides in the competition for the no.10 jersey, Jones has started 15 matches this season with Rhys Patchell and Angus O’Brien also vying for the shirt.

“This is my home region, I came through the academy at the Scarlets and I am delighted to be continuing my rugby here,” said Jones, who won a U20 Grand Slam with in 2016.

“There is strong competition for the 10 jersey and I have been happy with the amount of game-time I have had.

“We haven’t had the season we wanted, but we still have something to play for in the coming weeks.

“The boys are ambitious, there is a good buzz here. We have enjoyed plenty of success in recent seasons and hopefully we can achieve more in the coming years under a new coaching team.”
