Channel Islanders lead – but it’s still tight

IT's getting ever tighter at the top of the table, with Hundred and battling it out for top spot and Wimbledon behind in third but with a game in hand.

While Rochford Hundred failed to take the bonus point in their 21-12 win away at Wild Geese, Guernsey had no such trouble in their 31-3 win at home to and now move to the top on points difference.

Chris Shields, with two, and Sonny Gay were the try-scorers for Rochford Hundred all converted by Chris Dudman.

Chico U'Chong and Sean Cunningham crossed for the home side, with Liam Prescott successful with one conversion.

Over at Footes Lane, the Channel Island side had Layton Batiste to thank for maximum points.

He went in for two in his 300th game for the club, to add to scores from Joe Andresen, Tom Ceillam – with the bonus score – and Anthony Armstrong.

Owen Thomas landed three conversions, while Ben Adams was the sole scorer for the visitors with a penalty.

Wimbledon are now breathing down the necks of the top two.

They took the bonus point in their 38-0 win away at Guildford, who now appear way off the pace at the bottom of the table.

Chris Yorke led the Wimbledon charge with two tries, followed by Jack Flanagan, Toby White and Bradley Ugogulumwa with one each in a comprehensive success.

Wimbledon also forced a penalty try, with Steve Boatman successful with three conversions.

, in fourth, lead a now distant chasing group. They were 25-12 victors at home to Sidcup.

Harry Elbrow, Ollie Rathborn and Daragh Chambers were try scorers for the home side, with Killian Wilson landing two second-half conversions, to add to two first-half penalties.

Hertford were 13-11 winners at home to Tring.

Liam Batty and Kyle Lemon both crossed for tries, with Batty also slotting a penalty.

Will Martin scored all of Tring's points through a try and two penalties as they had to settle for a losing bonus point.

Brighton added further to Bedford Athletic's problems following a 19-14 win at Waterhall, though the losing bonus point might prove useful at the end of the season.

Max Morris, Jesse Beecham and Tom Hatch went over for the home side with David McIlwaine knocking over two conversions

The Tunbridge Wells v CS Stags game was postponed.
