DANNY Hodge drew first blood for a ferocious Pontypool attack which crossed for eight tries in a big win over Canterbury.
The second row claimed the ball at a lineout on three minutes with the pack driving him over from the resulting maul.
Pooler dominated the first quarter of the match and were over again after centre Joel Mahoney drew two defenders before passing out wide for Geraint Walsh to dot down.
Canterbury struck back on the half-hour through Dan Smart from the lineout, with Tom Best on hand to add the extras.
