Phillips’ boot puts holders out of the Plate

HOLDERS Penallta are out of the WRU National Plate after going down 12-7 at Crymych in the last 16.
Penallta’s Kieran Mahoney scored the only try of the match, converted by Joseph Scrivens, but it was not enough as four penalties from Ifan Phillips sent Crymych through. Last season’s runners-up Ystalyfera are safely through to the last eight after a 30-3 home victory over Maesteg. Luc Caines, Josh Jarrett and Nathan Cornelius scored the tries, which were all converted by Steff Castle to add to his three penalties.
