TMO wrong about Ulster’s Kieran Treadwell

THE old game must have had more embarrassing weeks on the technological front but it’s hard to recall one. A TMO advising a young Italian referee to change his card from red to yellow over an incident which demanded the immediate dismissal of Kieran Treadwell for a dangerous tackle against Scarlets.
The Ulster lock’s citing and subsequent suspension showed how badly the TMO had got it wrong. Ironically, when the same TMO, Ireland’s Brian MacNiece, advised Romain Poite that an airborne Dan Biggar had been fouled during the Wales-England match, the French referee ignored him.
