Ellie Kildunne’s popularity as the poster girl of the world champion England women’s team was confirmed this week when she was voted runner-up in the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year Awards to golfing ace Rory McIlroy.

It crowned a glittering year for the quicksilver Harlequins and England full-back, who left an indelible impression on the 2025 Women’s World Cup tournament.
Kildunne scored tries on the big stage when it mattered most, with a brace in the semi-final victory over France, and a spectacular solo touchdown to get England’s 33-13 triumph in the final against Canada underway.
