Rugby Matters: Pro game in this country owes Nigel Wray a huge debt

I’ve always maintained that the long lens of rugby history will view Nigel Wray as a giant amongst pygmies and see no reason to revise that opinion as he finally appears to be exiting stage right. He says he will become a fan again but to understand Wray you need to appreciate that is his default setting anyway.
The truth is – and some don’t want to hear this – that every single player, coach and backroom staff member drawing a monthly pay cheque in this country is indirectly in his debt.
