Soper was All Blacks’ star prospect – better than Meads

ALISTAIR ‘Ack’ Soper died aged 83 in Invercargill this week, an uncapped All Black tourist (number 590) but probably not a name you are familiar with.
Back in 1955 though as an 18-year-old No.8 and the youngest member of the New Zealand U21 tour to Ceylon he was hailed as the outstanding player and star prospect of a side that also included Colin Meads and Wilson Whinneray.
