I’M not a fan of having the Prem Cup preceding the proper Prem season. As last week showed, some teams treat it like an extension of pre-season, some give the kids a run and a few actually look like they want to win it.
I preferred it when August was for pre-season matches and the league season commenced at the start of September and the Prem Cup had its place during international windows.
Clearly it’s a crowded calendar now that goes on forever, but with only 10 Prem teams and 18 league matches, there should be room for manoeuvre.
