Great to remember the League Lions

AFTER being away on holiday, I have just caught up with Peter Jackson’s lovely piece about the League Lions (TRP, August 9). That really took me back to my youth in the 50s and 60s when my parents (originally from Barrow) regaled me with tales of Willie Horne and Jimmy Lewthwaite.
One tale has always stayed with me. Jimmy was obviously a poster boy and my mother, who worked as a telephonist at Barrow Post Office, recalled him coming to the exchange at some point to fix the lights.
