Nations Championship gets off to a humdinger of a start

THE Nations Championship naysayers – and there is an army of them – should take a look at the competition’s inaugural fixture between New Zealand and France in Christchurch yesterday.
It was a humdinger of a match in which a shadow French side, minus a band of Toulouse luminaries headed by Antoine Dupont and Thomas Ramos, pushed a New Zealand outfit in its first game under coach Dave Rennie to the wire, with the 34-32 win for the home side in the balance until the end.
