New Year Honours for England’s World Cup winners

Following the Red Roses’ victory at the Women’s Rugby World Cup, second row and captain Zoe Aldcroft, flanker Marlie Packer and head coach John Mitchell have all been made OBEs in the New Year Honours.

Following the Red Roses’ victory at the Women’s Rugby World Cup, second row and captain Zoe Aldcroft, flanker Marlie Packer and head coach John Mitchell have all been made OBEs in the New Year Honours.
Megan Jones, Sadia Kabeya and Ellie Kildunne are appointed MBEs.
Kildunne said: “I didn’t know whether to cry or to laugh. I just wanted to call my mum. I texted her a screenshot and said: ‘What does an MBE actually mean?’
“I’m super proud of myself and anyone that’s on the list. To be decorated with such an award, it’s cool.”
