When Wales beat England 1-0 at The Racecourse during the final year of football’s annual Home International Championship, they did so without a single Welsh-based player.
In other words, a team employed lock, stock and barrel by a variety of English clubs.

Back then, in the late spring of 1984, a striking contrast would be drawn between one Welsh team wholly reliant on those across the border and the other wholly reliant on local boys living in the villages, towns and cities of the rugby belt where they had been born and bred.
