The tears for me, while standing in the crowd at Twickenham watching Canada receive their second-place medals, were of hurt.
Brought on by the personal memories of 2006 and 2010. The pain never dulls. But now there is a new noise, at times deafening, and as a result, there were tears of joy and exaltation and celebration and awe and wonder.
What more can I say of my World Cup experience?
My emotions were put into wash six weeks ago; the Final on Saturday was very much the spin cycle. I am still shattered.
