Chief of Women’s Rugby at World Rugby Sally Horrox says heavy defeats suffered by lower ranked, mostly amateur teams such as Brazil and Samoa are inevitable at this early stage of growth for the women’s game but that those nations will benefit from the exposure.

Brazil, ranked 25 in the world – the lowest at the tournament – have lost 84-5 to France and 66-6 to South Africa while Samoa conceded 165 points and scored only three in their matches against Australia and England.
