Care extends

and former scrum-half has signed a new contract to spend a 19th season at the London club.

The 37-year-old has accumulated 374 appearances in the quarters since 2006, providing a delicate grubber for Gonzalo Comacho’s decisive try in the 2011 Amlin final before starting in the two triumphs a year and a decade later.

He retired from international rugby earlier this year having earned 101 caps in an England career that spanned the longest period of time of anyone to have worn the rose, and will continue for Quins beyond his 38th birthday as he looks to become the first player in the club’s history to reach 400 appearances.

“I’m excited to extend my contract with Quins for my 19th season at the club,” Care told the official club website after signing a new one-year deal.

“This is my home, I love everything about it, the rugby we play, our amazing fans, and the memories we have made together.

“It was an easy decision to sign the contract, we have a great group of lads who I love playing with, and we’re building something very special.

“We have the best fans in the world, and I can’t wait to pull on the Quarters for another season and run out in front of a packed Stoop.”

Whether he reaches 400 appearances or not, Care has already broken several records at Quins including being the first player to score over 100 tries for the club.

He has played in each of the club’s six Premiership play-off runs, and has also featured in all of their knockout stage campaigns this century – finally earning a victory in the last 16 against before playing in their first ever semi-final in a defeat to .

“Danny has been an incredible servant to our club and a true Harlequin, leading from the front with his exceptional professionalism, hard work, and determination to succeed,” Quins director of rugby Billy Millard said.

“We love having Danny in our squad, he’s a great character and his infectious energy, alongside his experience, means he’s a hugely popular and important member of our Quins DNA.”
