HAVING trailed 17-3, had the last word when Luke Bouchier kicked a penalty from near halfway in the final minute of the game.

However, it was really the Lions' scrum who won the day, as Richmond conceded six scrum penalties.

Richmond had got off to an encouraging start and built a 14-point lead in the first quarter. After Dan Lewis converted a straightforward penalty, Richmond responded with three tries in the next 12 minutes. The first came from a lineout drive, providing Alex Post with his 12th try of the season whilst the second was well worked by Henry Cheeseman and the retur ning Paddy Case, who touched down in the corner.

When Matt Marsh sped through a gap after a drive by the forwards,

Richmond looked in control. However, Lions got one back just before half-time, when Simon Koroiyadi scored after Lions had barraged the Richmond line.

The scrum domination now changed the game, Jake Sterland taking advantage to score in the corner after the scrum wheeled. In the final minutes, Dan Lewis and Ted Landray piggybacked penalties, leaving Richmond two points ahead until that final decisive kick.
