DARLINGTON Mowden Park returned to winning ways with a dominant display against Leicester Lions.
Garry Law's side took maximum points courtesy of a late Callum Pascoe try, while Leicester were contained to a single penalty.
The hosts made a bright start and opened the scoring with a Law penalty, before Harry Yates powered over from close range on the 20-minute mark. Law converted, and those proved to be the last points of a low-scoring first half.
The visitors looked likely to narrow the gap and enjoyed the better of the late firsthalf exchanges, but Mowden defended well to deny the Lions from a series of driving mauls. The second half was a more expansive affair, and DMP edged further clear when Yates bagged his second of the afternoon in the left corner.
A Dan Lewis penalty got Leicester on the board, but they were soon reduced to 14 when Simon Johnson was sent to the bin for a high tackle on half way.
Mowden took full advantage and had their third of the afternoon when replacement hooker Max Fraine scored from a driving maul. Leicester pressed late on to get themselves back in the game, but an interception try from Pascoe put the result beyond any doubt and earned Mowden an important fivepoint win.
