Premiership clubs are poised to miss out on signing Tonga and Highlanders outside centre Fetuli Paea when his contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union runs out at the end of the year.
The 28-year-old, who can also play inside centre and wing, has been attracting interest from Premiership clubs, Brive in France, and Zebre in the United Rugby Championship.
Paea, who had a spell in National League Three London & SE with Shelford seven years ago, is tipped to sign for Zebre, who lost all 18 games they played this season.
