The Red Roses put 50 points on the USA at a windy Sandy Park to secure a record 24th consecutive victory, but failed to achieve their usual fluency despite a player of the match display by Claudia McDonald on her return from a career-threatening neck injury.
McDonald said: “We were always going to be rusty after pre-season. We showed some brilliant stuff but there were some things to improve on.”
