Maverick brothers who just excelled

FETTES has always been a sanctuary for the talented allronder and there were two prime examples during the school’s early history in the Monypenny and MacLeod brothers.
The Monypenny’s – Charlton and Douglas – were a maverick duo. Charlton was multi-talented with athletics competing with rugby for his attention. He won three straight athletics Blues at Cambridge between 1890 and 1892 and at one stage held two records, 14.8 seconds for the 150 yards dash and 49.-5 seconds for the 440 yards.
