Bath hope to bring Rhys Webb back from Toulon

Bath are eager to add a world-class scrum-half to their squad for next season, Neil Fissler reports

Rhys Webb

are looking to bring former scrum-half Rhys Webb back to the UK from at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old is under contract to Toulon for another 18 months but his fiancé and three children returned to Wales earlier in the year after failing to settle on the Cote D’Azur.

Webb has a clause in  that allows him to leave the club and return home before entering into the final year of his deal.

Bath are keen on landing a big name scrum-half next season and will rival any offers made for Webb from the Premiership and Welsh.

He missed out on the World Cup in Japan because he was under the 60-cap threshold set by the Welsh Rugby Union for international selection.

Bath are likely to face competition from Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter who has got a top-end international scrum half on his shopping list for next season.

Wolfpack use player bait to find a club buyer

SUPER LEAGUE outfit Toronto Wolfpack are linking themselves to  host of Union players as they try to find a buyer for club.

The Wolfpack were this week linked with a move for England centre Manu Tuilagi, right, following  their signing of All Black Sonny Bill Williams.

They have also been linked with moves for former England centre Ben Te’o who is currently playing in France for Toulon before heading to Japan early next year.

But Blindside understands that a move for Tuilagi was never going to get off the ground as he is on a long term contract with The Tigers.

And that the move was merely Wolfpack owner David Argyle trying to entice Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment – who own a host of major sports franchises – to buy a stake in them.
