English rugby has been shocked by the sudden passing of former Leicester Tigers and Bath wing Steve Booth at the age of 42.
The two-time Premiership winner was signed by Dean Richards in 2000, crossing codes to move to Welford Road.
In a four-year spell with Tigers, Booth played 71 times and scored 26 tries.
Adding Heineken Cup glory to his domestic double before moving to Bath in 2005.
Leicester head coach Geordan Murphy told the club’s official website: “Steve was a big personality in a dressing room full of big personalities. He always had something to say, but he was also ready to help and was a real caring guy.
“He came in from rugby league but settled in quickly and he played the best rugby of his career at Leicester in a very successful team. He was a real entertainer on the pitch and will be remembered as someone who could score tries out of nothing.
“We were shocked to hear of his passing and, on behalf of everyone at Tigers, pass on condolences to his partner and their family and friends.”
Leicester and Bath have both paid tribute to the former Huddersfield and Doncaster League player, as well as a number of former teammates.
