Scotland and Harlequins star Tim Visser calls it a day

Former Scotland and Quins ace Tim Visser has announced his retirement from rugby

Tim Visser

and former winger Tim Visser has announced his retirement from professional rugby.
The Dutch-born speedster moved to the UK at the tender age of 16 and qualified to play for Scotland via the three-year residency rule, and developed a reputation for being a clinical finisher.
In his statement the 31 year-old noted: “I’ve always said I want to stop before its too late, and now feels like the right time. I’m very much looking forward to the next chapter in our lives with our two young boys, whatever that may bring.
“Lastly I want to thank all the supporters that have cheered me on over the years. Most of all the Scottish fans who accepted me as one of their own. It was a huge honour I’ll never forget.”
Visser touched down 14 times in his 44 games for his national side, and during a four year stay in South-West London amassed 66 Harlequins appearances, yielding 39 tries.
He crossed the white line the most for his club during their special 150th anniversary year.
Paul Gustard has worked with Visser for the past season at The Stoop, and has always admired Visser’s “comittment, attitude and humour” since he joined.
““He is an immensely valued and very popular member of the squad whom we will miss. We all wish him and his family the very best as he embarks on a new adventure”, Paul added.
His first opportunity in professional rugby came with Newcastle Falcons in 2007; making his debut as a replacement for Jonny Wilkinson.
Two years later he moved to the Scottish capital to join which is where he hit his highest heights, where he topped the PRO12’S try scoring chart in four consecutive seasons.
