Callard fears rugby may be losing its core value

RUGBY must clamp down on the growing lack of respect for officials or risk losing one of its unique values, says former England full-back Jon Callard.
Events before, during and after last Saturday’s Calcutta Cup clash have led to some soul-searching among the rugby fraternity about which direction the game is heading regarding the tone of voice used by coaches and players, and the behaviour of a minority of fans.
For Callard, booing the kicker is not an issue, it is the way players communicate with the referee that bothers him most.
