Refs have to be free thinkers

REGARDING law change trials, while I understand why Colin Boag welcomes the removal of subjectivity by referees, I take issue over his support for the concept of giving mandatory yellow cards against a side for a prescribed number of penalties.
Rugby is not a game where tablets of stone can apply. Referees at all levels must be free to make decisions and escalate sanctions based on the context of the game before them.
