KIERAN Curran helped Loughborough Students start the seven-day countdown to the new season on a winning note.
The No.8 put the Students on the board after their opponents swiftly moved into a 12-0 lead through Sam Benjamin and Luke Veebel.
The hosts were soon in front with two converted tries in a matter of five minutes leaving Students 21-12 ahead.
