Scotland power up for best ever tournament

SCOTLAND chief executive Mark Dodson believes Gregor Townsend has assembled the strongest ever squad in World Cup history with a minimum aim of making the quarterfinals in Japan.
A fourth-place finish in 1991 is the only time Scotland have gone beyond the last eight in eight attempts.
Townsend’s side begin against Ireland on September 22 and also face Japan, Samoa and Russia in Pool A. “We’re assembling the most powerful squad we’ve ever sent,” Dodson said.
