Quade Cooper gets Queensland Reds exit after icy relationship with Brad Thorn

Quade Cooper has spoken out against his treatment at the Queensland Reds after sealing a move to the Melbourne Rebels for the 2019 season.
The Wallabies playmaker was exiled from the Reds squad for most of the past season by head coach Brad Thorn, and rather than moving elsewhere opted to play club rugby for the Brisbane Souths. You can bet on the Rebels to star in next year’s Super Rugby with Novibet Sports.
On a £330,000 contract at the Suncorp Stadium, Cooper took to twitter to speak for the first time about the impasse he experienced with Thorn.
“Sometimes you are forced out of the place you love but thank god there’s more than one place that loves me,” Cooper wrote, with an image attached of his fending off Thorn during a clash between Australia and New Zealand.
Cooper will join former Reds teammate Will Genia in Victoria and as two of the main cogs behind the Super Rugby title heading to Queensland in 2011, the scrum-half commented on the move having left the same team in 2015 for in stint in France with Stade Francais.
“I have got sympathy for him because he loves the place as I do. We were there a long, long time, from tough times to building to success and winning the competition,” Genia told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“There’s obviously always that emotional attachment but I think the best thing for him is to get back to playing at this level, just because he has so much to offer.

“If he can do that and find some consistency in his performance, I think he’ll find some solace in that rather than playing for Souths [in the Brisbane competition]. As much as he would have enjoyed it, he deserves to be at this level and probably owes it to himself as well.”

The Reds and Rebels underachieved in their 2018 Super Rugby campaigns, finishing 13th and ninth respectively.
