Alternative to the dismissal system

COLIN Boag (July 15) is rightly against replacing the red card system (dismissal) by something like the Rugby League on report system.
Referees are in an invidious position — enforce the laws or ruin the game as a spectacle.
Remember the Brian O’Driscoll spear tackle in the first few minutes of the first Test in NZ in 2005.
It may be for consideration that a red carded player be removed for 20 minutes, not to return but instead replaced by a substitute.
