Premiership team Harlequins have recently named the current England coach for defence, Paul Gustard as their newly appointed head coach.
The well-known 42 year old rugby coaching professional will assume his new role at the London club once he's through with the England's tour of South Africa next month. He'll be replacing John Kingston, who has given in his papers by mutual consent.

Talking to the press about his new role, Paul Gustard said, “I just couldn't turn this opportunity down. I am a proud Englishman and it has been a privilege to represent my country and work under Eddie. He has supported me in accepting this new role and I will continue to have a strong relationship with him. However, I am now ready to lead a team and I am thrilled to have this chance at one of the Premiership's biggest clubs.”
Made big contributions to the national side
Gustard who's a former Saracens assistant coach too, contributed to the English rugby team majorly during the past 2 ½ years, helping them win back-to-back Six Nations titles (they won their last title in 2017, beating Scotland in the finals), and major series victories against Argentina and Australia, away from home.
Eddie Jones, the coach of the England rugby team has a major task at hand as the team would now be without a permanent attack and defence coach, with the Rugby World Cup only 15 months away. The process of appointing a new defence coach has already been started.
Talking to the press, Eddie Jones said about Paul Gustard's appointment, “I wish ‘Gussy' all the best at Quins. He is a talented young English coach and a very good choice for the role. He has made a big contribution to the England coaching team as our defence coach and I'm happy that he has this opportunity to develop and prove himself in a head coach role.”
