Six uncapped player in England squad for autumn series

England head coach Eddie Jones has named six uncapped players in his 33-man squad for the autumn internationals.
Tight-head Kyle Sinckler (Harlequins), back-row Nathan Hughes (Wasps) and second-row Charlie Ewels (Bath) have been called up in the forwards. Full-back Mike Haley (Sale), fly-half Alex Lozowski (Saracens) and centre Ben Te’o (Worcester) are the other uncapped players who have been rewarded with a call up.
There are also recalls for three of ‘s unsuccessful 2015 World Cup squad who are yet to play under Jones.
Tom Wood (Northampton) and Ben Morgan (Gloucester) have been given their chance again in the back-row and winger Jonny May (Gloucester) has recovered from a lengthy knee injury and returns to the squad.
England Saxons captain Dave Attwood (Bath), who last played for England this summer against Wales at Twickenham, will add some experience at lock in the absence of Maro Itoje and George Kruis.
“With a number of influential players missing through injury we have two weeks to prepare a robust and resilient team to meet the challenges set for us in the Old Mutual Wealth Series.” said Jones.
The squad will fly out to Portugal on Sunday for a week of training after this weekend’s Aviva Premiership fixtures have been completed. Jones will then bring his team back to Pennyhill Park to prepare for what could be a first test victory against South Africa in ten years on Saturday November 12.
“Our training camp in Portugal is a great opportunity to spend a week together, focus on putting our game plans in place and for new players to understand the England way.
“We’re looking forward to being back in front of a passionate Twickenham crowd and I’m confident we can prepare well and put together a matchday 23 which is full of pride, energy and commitment to give South Africa the game of their lives,” he said.
