Harrison Orr has become Newcastle Falcons‘ latest new signing for next season after agreeing a move from Greene King IPA Championship side Ealing Trailfinders.
The former Australia U20s international, 22, is English-qualified.
He is the Falcons’ fourth confirmed signing for next season following the arrivals of Leicester Tigers’ Vereniki Goneva, Jersey prop Sam Lockwood and England Sevens scrum-half Sam Egerton.
He said: “I enjoy the English style of rugby, I love my ball-carrying and putting on big hits, and it is all about being a physical presence.
“The Falcons’ synthetic pitch is nothing new for me because we have a very similar surface down at Ealing. It allows you to play at quite a quick pace, I enjoy that side of things and hopefully I can make a contribution.
“Newcastle have had a lot of the bigger names in rugby here, they are a well-known presence at the top level and I want to be a part of that.”
Director of rugby Dean Richards commented: “Harrison is a strong ball-carrier and a good lineout forward who can play at lock, blindside or No.8. We look forward to his arrival in the summer and the contribution he can make here.”
