Worcester Warriors lock Tevita Cavubati has been banned for nine weeks for biting Jebb Sinclair on Sunday.
The Fijian forward, 28, was also ordered to pay £500 costs following a Rugby Football Union disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.
He said: “I would like to apologise to my team-mates, the coaches and supporters.
“I was struggling to breathe and reacted in a way I would never normally do. I sincerely apologise to Jebb.
“It was uncharacteristic and this is not the type of player I am.”
