Damian Hopley believes the fabric of rugby may need to change so safeguard professional players against the rising number of concussions taking place.
The Rugby Players’ Association CEO believes a rugby ‘Think Tank’ could look at reducing the number of players taking part and the increasing the size of the pitch.
He also believes more progress on player welfare – reducing the number of games – could be made.
And in a year when rugby’s profitability continues to rise, he calls for more rewards for the athletes who put their bodies on the line.
