Andy Goode to join London Irish

London Irish today confirmed the signing of Andy Goode from .
Goode was offered a coaching contract to remain at Wasps but the 34-year-old fly-half believed he could still play at the highest level and was looking at other options for a while now.
He made a name for himself at Leicester Tigers where he won five Premiership titles and two Heineken Cups either side of a quick stint at Saracens.
He then moved to Brive in France before returning to England and join Worcester. After two seasons at Sixways he linked up with Wasps where he spent the last two seasons.
The Exiles also announced the arrival of Bristol’s Andy Short on loan for the remainder of the season.
Goode said: “I am really looking forward to joining  next season. They are a family Club heading in a really promising direction. The facilities are very impressive and having spoken to the management and coaching staff it is a Club I am really excited to be joining.
“I have had two brilliant years at Wasps and will leave with many fond memories. There is still plenty to play for this season and that will have my full attention until the summer.”
London Irish Operations Director Bob Casey added: “Andy is a top class player and one of leading goal kickers in the Premiership with an impressive kicking percentage.
“He has a wealth of experience to offer and is also a leader. He has proven himself as one of the best fly-halves in the Premiership and we are delighted he has signed for us.”
Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “We would have loved for Andy to stay at Wasps in a coaching capacity next season, but we fully understand his decision to play on at London Irish, during an exciting time for that club as well.
“Andy will leave with our very best wishes at the end of the season and I’m sure he will do a very good job for London Irish.
“Goodey has been a tremendous ambassador for Wasps since joining two seasons ago, both on and off the field.  His performance against London Irish at our first game at the Ricoh Arena will live long in the memory.
“He’s a popular character, who has really helped some of our young guys coming through, and they will continue to benefit from his knowledge this season.
“Goodey’s a great competitor and I have no doubt he will put everything into our remaining games this season and will be determined to sign off for Wasps in style.”
