Ross Moriarty commits future to Gloucester

Ross Moriarty has become the latest Gloucester player to sign a new contract to remain at Kingsholm.
The 20 year old back-row, a double Junior World Championship winner with England, follows in the footsteps of Matt Kvesic and Jonny May in agreeing a new deal with the Cherry and Whites.
The St Helens born forward has benefitted from the club’s partnership with Hartpury College, having played for Hartpury RFC as part of his development as well as representing England at U18 and U20 level.
Whilst with the U20s, he became part of a select group of individuals who helped England to triumph in the Junior World Championships in France in 2013 and New Zealand in 2014.
He made his first team debut for Gloucester in the LV= Cup fixture away at Ospreys in November 2012 and has also featured in the matches against Fiji and Japan.
This season has seen him establish himself in the first team squad – he has played a part in all of Gloucester’s first team matches so far this season.
He said: “I’m really excited to have signed on again at Gloucester. I’ve obviously been here for a few years as part of the Academy, and now as part of the first team squad and I’m really happy to be staying.
“I’ve been lucky to be involved in every game so far this season, and I’m really grateful for those opportunities and determined to make the most of them. It’s been a good season so far, and I just want to build on that and make the most of what playing time I can get.
“Everything seems to be moving in the right direction at the club, I’m really happy with how things are going. As a team we need to keep the momentum going, keep working hard and improving and I’m looking forward to being part of that.”
Director of Rugby David Humphreys added: “I’m very pleased that Ross has committed his future to the club. He is still relatively young in rugby terms, but is already contributing hugely to what we are trying to achieve as a team.
“He looks at home whenever we throw him into first team action. He’s a strong, physical player and his understanding of the game gets better and better each and every week.
“And, like Matt Kvesic and Jonny May before him, it’s great that he sees Gloucester as the right place for him to play his rugby. We’re delighted to have him on board going forward.”
