Eight-try Northampton thump sorry Gloucester

George North scored a hat-trick as Northampton began the defence of their Premiership crown in sensational fashion with a 53-6 demolition of Gloucester.
The Saints scored xx tries in total with George Pisi, Luther Burrell, twice, Kahn Fotuali’i, Jon Fisher joining the Welsh star on the scoresheet while the Cherry and Whites only had two penalties to their name through James Hook and Greig Laidlaw.
The game took a while to get going with Stephen Myler and Hook kicking a penalty each to see the score levelled at 3-3 after 20 minutes but Saints then went through the gears and North started his one-man show with his first try of the game.
Pisi followed suit ten minutes later and, although Laidlaw reduced the gap with a penalty, North secured his brace just before half-time to make it 24-6.
The break did not stop any momentum for the champions as Burrell secured the try-bonus point three minutes into the second half.
Trailing 31-6, it went from bad to worse for Gloucester as Henry Trinder was sent to the bin for a cynical offside and North completed his hat-trick within the next minute.
The game was well and truly over but the home side did not stopped as Fotuali’i, Fisher and Burrell all went over to break the half-century. in the last 20 minutes.
