Room 101: Dave Ward – Harlequins hooker

Dave Ward1. Cinema prices
I used to go to the cinema a lot but not anymore because of the cost. It's hardly surprising that people are using Netflix or downloading films and watching them at home when you're looking at the best part of £40 for two tickets, popcorn, drinks and Nachos. Yes. I could bring my own food and drink but I like to support businesses and pay my way – but not at the excessive prices they charge: the mark up is incredible.
TRP verdict: We agree. It's a yes to the big screen but no to the big prices.
2. Mobile phones at dinner time
People looking at their mobile phones at dinner time really kills me. We have meals together at and on a table of six you can guarantee that six phones will be out. We can sit there for five minutes without a word being said, and that's not good in my opinion. People are losing the art of conversation. I've been guilty of looking at my phone too much in the past but nowadays I make a conscious effort to switch it off for a couple of hours in the evening or put it on silent mode. It's really quite liberating.
TRP verdict: You've every right to take a ‘swipe' at these phone obsessives. You've talked your way into .
3. Middle lane drivers
I reckon motorway driving should be made part of the Driving Test because a lot of people clearly aren't aware of the overtaking lane ‘rule'. Living in Guildford, I do a lot of driving on the M3 and M25 and my biggest pet hate is drivers who seek the comfort of the middle lane because they are not confident enough in their own ability to overtake in fast-moving traffic. They're normally completely oblivious to what is going on around them – even if you flash your lights!
TRP verdict: We have no central reservation about putting this one through either.
