SALE’S strong finish to the season was not enough to meet their target of going one better than the previous year by winning the Premiership final. They did not make it to Twickenham, defeated in the play-off semi-final by Bath at the Recreation Ground.
Bath had finished one place above Sale in second to secure home advantage in the knock-out stage even though the Sharks had won one match more in the regular season. The difference lay in bonus points with Bath’s total of 16 d...
