Let’s ring fence these ‘parachute’ payments

I READ with interest Brendan Gallagher’s column last Sunday regarding TV deals not looking so good for the Prem.
Firstly, I totally agree that promotion and relegation to the Prem should be cast in stone.
To assist existing clubs with the “cash” implications following the impact of relegation to the the Champ… the only thing from soccer that the rugby echelon elite should apply is the “parachute” payment. This payment should be “ring fenced” and non negotiable at the start of each season, reflecting the potential salary payments...
