I have to respectfully disagree with your correspondent of last week, Sarah Smith. Removing the Russian flag from Kiril Gotovtsev’s shirt was unnecessary and mean-spirited.
It has been on his shirt for four years, causing zero comment. Only a complaint from an internet troll has triggered its removal.
Gloucester have a policy of attaching the flag of all internationals to their shirt, a suitable recognition of their achievements.
